wie schön, dass Du heute bei uns bist! Als ich bei LYX gelesen hatte, dass Deine Rock Kiss-Reihe auch in Deutschland erscheinen wird, dachte ich mir: WOW! Die muss ich lesen! Was ich in der Zwischenzeit auch getan habe! Darum freue ich mich heute besonders, dass Du Dir die Zeit genommen hast, für dieses Interview. Danke!

Nalini: Danke für das Interview!

Wie ist es für Dich als Autorin, zwischen den Genres „Paranormal“ und „Zeitgenössisch“ hin- und her zu springen? Speziell Bezug nehmend auf Deine „Psy-Changeling“, „Guild Hunter“-Serie und Deine „Rock Kiss“-Reihe?

Nalini: Ich liebe es paranormale Bücher zu schreiben, aber ich begann mit zeitgenössischen Büchern und genieße es immer noch, darum macht es mir Spaß, zwischen den beiden Genres zu wechseln. Aus der Perspektive als Autor ist es gut für mich, manchmal etwas anderes zu schreiben und so meine Schreibmuskeln zu mobilisieren.Manchmal, wenn ich Autoren frage, ob sie „Besuch“ von ihren Protagonisten bekommen, oder wie sie von der Muse geküsst werden, bekomme ich die unterschiedlichsten Antworten.  Wie ist das eigentlich bei Dir, Nalini? Wie hat sich zum Beispiel Fox bei Dir bemerkbar gemacht? *Ka stellt sich schmunzelt vor, wie Fox des Nachts an Nalinis Bett schleicht, um ihr eine Balade ins Ohr zu hauchen*

Nalini: Ich erblickte eines Tages einen Kerl mit einem Lippenpiercing und das setzte eine Kettenreaktion in mein Gehirn frei und so konnte ich Fox sehen, ich sah wer er war, und sah natürlich dieses Lippenpiercing, das Molly so liebt!Ohja! Von Mollys Liebe zu diesem Piercing konnte ich mich eindeutig überzeugen! *lächelt wissend*
Weil wir gerade bei Fox sind: Zachary Fox ist der Bandleader einer erfolgreichen Rockband. Charismatisch. Sexy. Ein Bad Boy mit der Anziehungskraft eines Magneten! *seufzt schmachtend* Wie gefällt Dir Fox? Ich spreche jetzt nicht aus Deiner Sicht als seine Schöpferin, sondern aus Deiner Sicht als Frau heraus … 😉

Nalini: Na sicher! Ich liebe meine Helden!

Kannst Du uns Fox, in Deinen Worten – jetzt spreche ich Dich als Autorin an 😉 – beschreiben?

Nalini:  Abgesehen davon, dass er wunderschön und sexy ist, hat Fox eine große Leidenschaft für Musik. Sie ist das Blut in seinen Adern. Er ist auch ein Mann, dem es schwer fällt zu vertrauen, aber wenn er jemandem seine Loyalität schenkt, ist dies für immer. Engagement und Loyalität bedeutet ihm sehr viel und dieses Bedürfnis hat seine Wurzeln in den emotionalen Narben, die ihn zeichnen.Wie gut, dass Fox Molly gefunden hat.
Molly Webster, die Heldin aus „Eine Nacht ist nicht genug“, hat in jungen Jahren schon viel Leid erfahren müssen, vor allem auch was die Medien betrifft. Nichtsdestotrotz ist aus ihr eine Frau geworden, die mit beiden Beinen auf dem Boden steht, oder vielleicht auch gerade darum. Kannst Du uns Molly näher vorstellen?

Nalini: Molly ist eine Frau, die ich gerne zur Freundin hätte und ich hoffe, die Leser fühlen dies auf die selbe Weise! Sie ist extrem loyal zu den Menschen, die sie liebt und sie hat ein warmes Herz und ist  fähig, tiefe Emotionen zu empfinden. Wegen ihrer Vergangenheit, nennt sie auch einen Stahlrücken ihr eigen und eine immense innere Kraft – beides braucht sie, bei den Verwicklungen mit Fox!

Apropos Molly und Fox! Wow, Nalini! Als ich die erotischen Szenen zwischen Molly und Fox las, hatte ich wirklich Angst, die Platine meines eBook-Readers würde heiß laufen! Schon beim Lesen ist mir der sprichwörtliche Rauch aus den Ohren gequollen. 😀 Wie ist es Dir da erst beim Schreiben selbiger gegangen? 🙂

Nalini: Wenn ich schreibe, bin ich in den Köpfen meiner Charaktere,  diese Szenen wurden mir aus der Sicht von Mollys und Fox geschildert. Ich schrieb nur, was sie mir sagten, das ich schreiben soll! Ich könnte ein wenig rot geworden sein. 😉Ein wenig rot? 😉
Was mir am ersten Teil der „Rock Kiss“-Reihe besonders gefallen hat, ist, dass Du den ersten Teil sozusagen mit dem zweiten Teil verwoben hast. Was bei mir große Neugierde geweckt hat, wie es mit Thea und David weiter gehen wird! Wie muss ich mir das als Leser vorstellen: Schreibst Du die Geschichten parallel, bzw. machst Du Dir Querverweise, um nichts zu übersehen?

Nalini: Ich wusste, dass Thea und Davids Geschichte während Molly und Fox‘ Story los gehen würde, so hielt ich mich an eine sehr detaillierte Zeitleiste, so dass, als es an der Zeit war Thea und Davids Geschichte zu schreiben, alles passen würde. Es war wirklich lustig, die Bücher auf diese Art und Weise zu schreiben, aber es war auch sehr wichtig, dass ich dabei sehr organisiert vorging.Während des Lesens hat alles optimal zusammen gepasst! Das war total toll!
„Du bist alles für mich“, die Novelle, in der es um Thea – Mollys Halbschwester – geht, wartet mit einem für dieses Genre eher ungewöhnlichen Paar auf. Ich glaube, es ist das erste mal – und ich habe wirklich schon sehr sehr viele Bücher gelesen – dass ich auf eines gestoßen bin, in welchem der Held etwas kleiner ist als die Heldin. Was absolut für das Selbstbewußtsein der beiden spricht. Wie ist es dazu gekommen?

Nalini: David ist so eine herrliche Held, mit einem erstaunlichen Herzen. Sobald ich ihn traf, wusste ich, dass dieser Kerl etwas Besonderes ist. Es stellte sich auch heraus, dass er um ein paar Zoll kleiner als die Heldin ist, aber wie Du sagtest, ist sein Selbstbewusstsein groß. Er hat kein Problem damit –  Thea zu sagen, dass es eine seiner größten Freuden ist, sie dabei zu beobachten, wie sie in ihren High Heels umher geht. Für einem Mann mit diesem Selbstbewusstseins, ist der Größenunterschied kein Thema. Es ist eine Art Brautwerbung zwischen David und Thea, die im Mittelpunkt steht.Zurück zu Molly. Immer wenn ich an sie denke, kommt mir sofort Charlotte Baird, ihre beste Freundin in den Sinn. Eine Frau, die mich sofort in ihren Bann gezogen hat. Einfach, weil sie eine echte Freundin ist, die Molly stets zur Seite steht – egal was auch kommt! Charlotte bekommt in „Ich berausche mich an dir“ ihre eigenen Geschichte, auf die ich mich schon so sehr freue! Erzähl uns bitte ein wenig von ihr, wie ist sie so?

Nalini: Charlotte ist ein absoluter Schatz. Sie und Molly sind beste Freunde und sind es immer gewesen. Charlotte ist sehr gut in ihrem Job und sie liebt ihn, aber sie ist auch sehr schüchtern – in der Tat sagt sie selbst „Charlie-Maus“ zu sich. Aber diese Maus ist auch stärker, als sie meint!

Und dann Gabriel Bishop, Charlottes neuer Chef, der sich als Mann entpuppt, mit dem Charlotte so wohl nicht gerechnet hat! Was bin ich neugierig auf die Geschichte der beiden! *sich vor Vorfreude die Hände reibt* Was erwartet uns Leser in „Ich berausche mich an dir“ … um ehrlich zu sein, wenn der Inhalt das hält, was der Titel verspricht dann, dann … dann wird das eine verdammt sinnliche Angelegenheit, oder? 😉

Nalini: Gabriel ist ein wunderbarer Held – groß, brillant und sehr, sehr interessiert an Charlie-Maus. Ihre Geschichte ist romantisch, lustig, süß und ja, sinnlich. Viele Leser haben mir gesagt, dass Gabriel und Charlottes Geschichte bisher ihr Lieblings der Serie ist.Das hört sich super an! Ich freue mich darauf!
Deine „Rock Kiss“-Reihe ist wieder eine Serie, die ich einfach lesen muss, weil mir die Charaktere, die darin vorkommen gefallen. Nehmen wir nur Noah St. John, Fox „Kollege“, der in „Ich will alles von dir“ sein eigenes Buch bekommt. Noah hütet ein dunkles Geheimnis und flüchtet sich seither nicht nur in die Musik, sondern auch in mannigfaltige, sexuelle Abenteuer, von denen ich bereits in „Eine Nacht ist nicht genug“ lesen konnte. Seltsamerweise habe ich mich trotzdem für ihn … nun ja …   erwärmt. 😉 Was für ein Mensch ist Noah?

Nalini: Noah ist … kompliziert. Die Wunden an seiner Seele sind tief und sie haben großen Schaden an seiner Psyche genommen. Aber unabhängig davon, wie leichtsinnig er für die Außenwelt erscheinen mag, seine Bandkollegen wissen, dass er alles für sie tun würde. Mir tat es so weh für Noah, darüber nachzudenken, was er durchgemacht hat, aber zur gleichen Zeit, hätte ich ihn manchmal am liebsten für das, was er tut, getreten. Wie ich schon sagte, kompliziert.Um ehrlich zu sein, ich habe einen Hang zu komplizierten Helden …
Wenn Du es Dir aussuchen könntest, eine Wog im Leben eines Deiner „Rock Kiss“-Protagonisten zu schlüpfen. Wen würdest Du Dir aussuchen?

Nalini: Hmm … Ich glaube nicht, dass ich einer von ihnen würde sein wollen, denn für mich sind sie alle Menschen mit ihren eigenen Rechten, und ich würde nicht ihr Leben leben wollen. Aber, ich würde gerne ein Konzert der Band hören!

Eine letzte Frage, Nalini: Ist es für Dich persönlich wichtig, dass Geschichten ein Happy End bekommen? Und wenn ja, warum?

Nalini: Ja. Ich liebe die Hoffnung in einem Happy End, das Gefühl, dass egal wie hart die Reise ist, es am Ende Glück geben wird.Nalini, Ich bedanke mich nochmals ganz ganz herzlich, für dieses Gespräch. Ich habe da noch eine kleine Frage … ich weiß nicht, ob Du es weißt: Bei Happy End Bücher pflegen wir die Tradition, ab und zu Interviews mit Buchhelden zu führen. Was meinst Du, könnte man einen Deiner Helden vielleicht mal zu einem Gespräch … animieren?

Nalini: Ich befürchte, keiner von ihnen ist zur Zeit bereit für ein Interview, aber vielleicht eines Tages in der Zukunft. 🙂

how nice of you to join us today! When I read at LYX, about your „Rock Kiss“ series being released in Germany as well, I thought to myself: WOW! I have to read it! I did in the meantime! 😀 Therefore today I am especially delighted, that you took the time for this interview. Thank you!

Nalini: Thank you for the interview!

What is it like for you as a writer, to change between the genres „Paranormal“ and „Contemporary“? Especially in regard to your „Psy-Changeling“, „Guild Hunter“ series and your „Rock Kiss“ series?

Nalini: I adore writing paranormal books, but I started out in contemporary and I still enjoy it, so it’s fun for me to be able to switch between the two genres. From a writing perspective, it’s also good for me to do something different and stretch my writing muscles.When I ask authors if their protagonists „visit“ them, or how they get inspired, I get a wide variety of answers. How does this actually work with you, Nalini? For example: How did Fox become noticeable for you? *Ka imagines with a smile, how Fox sneaks into Nalini’s bedroom during the night, to breathe a ballad into her ear.*

Nalini: I glimpsed a guy with a lip ring one day and it just set off a chain reaction in my brain and I could see Fox, see who he was, and of course, see that lip ring that Molly so loves!Oh yeah! From Molly’s love for this piercing, I could convince myself clearly! *smiles knowingly*
Since we’re talking about Fox: Zachary Fox is the Bandleader of a successful rock band. Charismatic. Sexy. A bad boy with the attractive force of a magnet! *sighs* Did you like Fox? And I’m not talking about your point of view as his creator, but from your point of view as a woman … 😉
 
Nalini: Of course! I always love my heroes!

Can you describe Fox to us in your own words? Now I’m talking about your point of view as a writer. 😉

Nalini: Aside from being gorgeous and sexy, Fox is passionate about music. It’s the blood in his veins. He’s also a man who finds it hard to trust, but when he gives his loyalty to someone, it’s forever. Committment and loyalty mean a great deal to him and that need has its roots in the emotional scars that mark him.

How fortunate, that Molly Fox has found Molly, Nalini!
Molly Webster, the heroine of „Rock Addiction“, has experienced a lot of suffering in her early years, especially in regard to the media. Nevertheless, she became a very down to earth woman, perhaps precisely because of her past. Can you describe Molly further to us?

Nalini: Molly is a woman who I’d love to be friends with and I hope readers feel the same way! She’s fiercely loyal to the people she loves and she has a warm heart capable of great depths of emotion. Because of her past, she also has a steel spine and a deep internal strength – both of which she’ll need when she tangles with Fox!By the way, Molly and Fox! Wow, Nalini! When I read the erotic scenes between Molly and Fox, I was really scared, the circuit board of my eBook reader would run hot! During reading I got the proverbial red-hot ears. How did you do during writing these scenes? 🙂

Nalini: When I write, I’m in the characters‘ heads, so these scenes were from Molly’s and Fox’s points of view. I just wrote what they told me to write! I might have blushed a little. 😉A little blushed? 😉
What I particularly like in the first part of the „Rock Kiss“ series is, that it is interwoven with the second part. It made me really curious, how will things go on with Thea and David! How did that work: Do you write the stories in parallel, or do you make cross-references to miss nothing?

Nalini: I knew Thea and David’s story was going on during Molly and Fox’s, so I kept a very detailed timeline, so that when it was time to write Thea and David’s story, everything matched up. It was really fun to write the books that way but it also required that I be very organized.

While reading everything has fit together perfectly! It was totally great!
„Rock Courtship “ the novel, which regards to Thea – Molly’s half-sister – comes with a rather unusual pair for this genre. I think it is the first time – and I really read a great lot of books – I came across one, in which the hero is somewhat smaller than the heroine. This absolutely speaks for the self-confidence of the two. How did this turn up to be?

Nalini: David is such a gorgeous hero with this amazing heart. As soon as I met him, I knew this guy was special. He also turned out to be a couple of inches shorter than the heroine but as you said, his confidence is everything. He’s not hung up about that – as he tells Thea, watching her walk in high heels is one of his favorite pleasures. With a man this confident, the height difference becomes a non-issue. It’s the courtship between David and Thea that holds center stage.Back to Molly. Whenever I think of her, Charlotte Baird, her best friend, immediately comes to mind. A woman who at once has put me under her spell. Simply because she is a true friend, who is always at Mollys side – no matter what comes! Charlotte got her story in „Rock Hard„, which I am already very pleased about! Please tell us a little about Charlotte …

Nalini: Charlotte is an absolute sweetheart. She and Molly are best friends and have been forever. Charlotte is very good at her job and loves it, but she’s also very shy – in fact, she calls herself „Charlie-mouse.“ But this mouse is tougher than even she realizes!And then Gabriel Bishop, Charlotte’s new boss, who turned out to be a man Charlotte had not expected! I cant tell you how curious I am about their book! *rubs her hands with anticipation* What can readers expect in this book… to be honest, if the content delivers what the title is promising … then, then … it will be a damn sensual affair, right? 😉

Nalini: Gabriel is a wonderful hero – big, brilliant, and very, very, interested in Charlie-mouse. Their story is romantic and funny and sweet and yes, sensual. Many readers have told me that Gabriel and Charlotte’s story is their favorite of the series so far.Sounds great! I look forward to it!
Your „Rock Kiss“ series is one of those, I just have to read, because I like the characters that occur. Let’s just take Noah St. John, Foxs „mate“, who got his own book „Rock Redemption“. Noah harbors a dark secret and since then turned to not only his music but also miscellaneous sexual adventures, of which we already got a taste of in the second part of „Rock Kiss“. Oddly, I still … well … warmed up to him. 😉 What kind of person is Noah?

Nalini: Noah is… complicated. The wounds on his soul are deep and they’ve done major damage to his psyche. However, regardless of how careless he appears to the outside world, his band mates know he’d do anything for them. I hurt so much for Noah, thinking about what he’s been through, but at the same time, I sometimes just want to kick him for the things he does. Like I said, complicated.

To be honest, I have a tendency to complicated heroes …
If you could choose to spend one week in the life of your „Rock Kiss“-charakters. Who would you like to be?

Nalini: Hmm… I don’t think I’d want to be any of them, because for me, they’re all people in their own right and I wouldn’t want to take over their lives. But I’d love to hear the band in concert!Me too! 😀
One last question, Nalini: Is it important to you personally, that a book has a happy ending? And if so, why?

Nalini: Yes. I love the hope in a happy ending, the feeling that no matter how tough the journey, there will be happiness at the end.Again Nalini, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this interview. I still have one little question …  I don‘t know if you already heard: at Happy End books we, from time to time, cherish the tradition of conducting interviews with book heroes. What do you think, could one of your heroes be encouraged into a conversation … maybe?

Nalini: I’m afraid none of them are interview ready at this time, but perhaps one day in the future. 🙂
